On lot 4, a well found in trench 1681 (Soc. Xenia) produced fragments of decorated Apennine pottery and plain ware Mycenean pottery decorated with brown bands. Another well contained an impasto jar that was fragmented but complete, apart from the handles, and was probably deliberately broken before being buried. A road was also investigated for a length of circa 70 m. It was on a north-west/south-east alignment and had a beaten earth surface and relative drainage channels. The latter contained coarse ware and black glaze ware pottery datable to between the end of the 4th and the beginning of the 3rd century B.C. Numerous buckets (situla), cooking ware jars, a few fragments of black glaze and the occasional amphora fragment were recovered from two wells. The ancient ground surface associated with the road and the channels produced a large quantity of pottery including black glaze cups, some with incised graffiti. One was marked with a formula in Oscan indicating ownership and contained a number of bronze coins from Neapolis.
