A few hundred metres north-east of the Masseria La Torre di Soleto, at the south-eastern end of the Fondo Petraci, a trench was opened perpendicular to a wall of stones (those removed from the field) along the axis of the Roman centuriation. The trench was 2 m wide (the space between two fields) and 4,70 m long. Below this wall a dry-stone wall was clearly visible in the stratigraphy. Circa 0.65 m wide it rested directly on natural or on an ancient ground surface, depending on the unevenness of the terrain. This wall related to the centuriation. Two fragments of pottery dating to the Gracchan period were found within it but do not provide a definite chronology for the structure.
