Excavations began at Loano, locality of Castellari in 2001. The work, undertaken on different areas provided scientific results regarding the occupation of the zone in the Copper and Bronze Ages, in the form of evidence for the creation of a hut floor, traces of clay and small stones found on diverse parts of the excavation (plaster?) and bone fragments probably from a tomb.
During 2003, on the most sloping sector of the site, a mixture of clay and gravel was found which was used to fill in the spaces between the rocks so as to form a floor surface, whilst on the flat part mortar was laid in order to prevent earth slipping down towards the lower part of the deposit. Numerous flaked stone tools and waste flakes were found. (MiBAC)
