Chronology

Season

    • The remains of a megalithic burial were found at circa one kilometre east of the village. Three large stone slabs survive. Placed on the same alignment they constituted the walls of a funerary chamber with an elongated plan. On the surface of one of the slabs are several incised figurations made directly by a small hammer: simple cup marks, 5 cup marks with a vertical segment, a circle with a central cup mark from which a segment parts, 3 concentric circles with a central cup mark and wavy vertical segment, a figure with raised arms and bell-shaped skirt, an upside down anchor motif. An analysis of the techniques used to make these marks showed differences between the human figure and the anchor like shape on the on hand and the symbols on the other. This would suggest either two individuals working together or that they were made in different periods. According to the second hypothesis the first group would be the earliest, for which comparisons suggest a date within the Copper Age. (MiBAC)
