In 2000, an area with abundant remains on a bed of rock and sand was excavated close to Cape Prim, in the municipal area of Jávea. The area had been previously identified by the divers Philipe Lafaurie and Cristóbal Miravet. After the technical inspection and analysis of the dispersion and nature of the remains, it was determined that they formed part of a Roman wreck with a possible cargo of oil amphorae (Dressel 20 type), and minerals (ingots). Remains were also found which pertained to a Roman anchor, a clamp, and a strap. Because of the ease of finding and recovering these remains, it was decided that these two pieces would be extracted from the ground for their protection, whilst documenting their position in the area.
