A trench for new gas and water pipes was dug along almost the entire length of viale Trento. In the stretch near the Loreto bridge, where the church of Santa Maria di Loreto once stood, a midden full of ceramic material dating to the beginning of the 19th century came to light. This material had been discarded by the Hotel Europa, once situated in Piazza Walther, demolished after World War II. A collection has been made of the most important pieces. (Catrin Marzoli)
