The site is situated on the left bank of the river Agri, facing Civita, along a pass surrounded by high ground to the NW and NE. A total of 16 trenches were dug at various points over an area of 1000sq.m, including the line of the ENI pipe-trench.
A channel filled with dark earth was uncovered. This was traced for a length of circa 30m and was seen to follow the natural slope of the terrain on a NE-SW axis. The fill contained numerous sherds of early middle Bronze Age impasto pottery. The material was very fragmentary but it is worth noting the presence of wide-ribbon handles, a handle with vertical projections, fragments of carinated bowls and body sherds with cordon decoration. This is probably a channel dug for drainage purposes or to act as a boundary to an area of frequentation. (Maria Luisa Nava)
