Season

    • ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR KRESNA (Bogdan Athanassov – bo.atana@nbu.bg, Iliya Kulov) The site was situated on the top of a ridge. A wall of uneven stones was documented in Trenches 4C, 5C and 6C. Thracian sherds of the end of the Late Bronze and the beginning of the Early Iron Age (12th – 11th centuries BC) were found. Another wall of uneven stones was discovered in Trenches 10C-D and 11C-D. Thracian sherds of the end of the Late Bronze Age (1200 – 1100 BC) were found. The finds from the excavations included three terracotta discs and a flint plate. The walls probably belonged to ramshackle buildings.
