    • DIONYSOPOLIS (Boyan Ivanov – b_totev@abv.bg, Dobri Dobrev, Radostina Encheva) During the reconstruction of Temelkov Han of the end of the 19th century, the area situated in its interior was explored. A stratum of the Ottoman period was excavated. Two places for stirring mortar, a section of a cobble street and three drains were discovered. Sherds of the Ottoman period, terracotta tobacco pipes, roof-tiles and fragmentary marble veneer were found. Two occupation layers of the early Byzantine period were explored, each one with debris and traces from fire. A building was discovered, constructed of roughly-cut stones bonded with mortar and covered with tegulae and imbrices. Sherds, including from amphorae, and fragmentary marble veneer were found. The building dated to the 6th – beginning of the 7th centuries AD. Parts of two parallel buildings were explored. Their floors were paved with tiles and the roofs were covered with tegulae and imbrices. The buildings were burned. Sherds, including from amphorae, lids from dolia and bones from oxen were found. The buildings dated to the 4th – 6th centuries AD.
