Chronology

  • 800 BC - 600 BC
  • 100 BC - 1 BC

Season

    • Structures in opus reticolatum and incertum were found during excavation work of the north-east span of the new bridge on the vicolo degli Stazi, at the point believed by Lugli to be the principle street of access to the Villa of Domitian. The earlier construction work of the railway line had already upset the area, redepositing a great quantity of materials such as basoli, as well as fragments of cocciopesto and pilasters. Not far from the structures were recovered fragments of italo-geometric pottery, bucchero, impasto ware, and a bronze fibula all attributable to depositions within the complex datable between the eighth and sixth centuries BC.
