Chronology

  • 500 AD - 1492 AD

Season

    • In October 2007, a geophysical survey was undertaken at the site of Maglianella on the outskirts of Rome by the Archaeological Prospection Services of Southampton (APSS) and The British School at Rome. The work was carried out on behalf of Sig. Luciano Chianese. Overall, the results of the magnetometer survey confirm a lack of archaeological remains in the three areas. Much of the general survey area has been disturbed by modern debris including ferrous material, cement and areas of burning. These elements prevent accurate detection of buried archaeological remains. However, it is unlikely that archaeological remains are present in the survey areas. The existing housing development has probably already disturbed much of the land in its immediate vicinity.
