In March 2000, a resistivity survey was commissioned by the director of the San Vincenzo project Dott. Federico Marazzi, over an area at the site of San Vincenzo al Volturno. The results of the survey clearly indicate the nature and form of archaeological structures associated with the excavated remains at San Vincenzo. They illustrate the substantial nature of the monastic complex to the west of the Volturno, suggesting an elaborate eastwork and entrance to the basilica, and a substantial structure enclosing the area between the two churches. Within this enclosed space, a number of different structures are noticeable from the plan, including a circular building and structures associated with the eastwork of the basilica. The limits of the complex to the south have not been verified, due to constraints on the length of time of the survey. It would be appropriate to use resistivity over a wider area to examine the area immediately to the south of San Vincenzo Maggiore and the workshops. This would shed more light on the form and extent of the monastic complex.
