The construction of this building began at the beginning of the 2nd century B.C., on an area of land that was not, at that time, completely occupied. Phase II (first half of the 2nd century B.C.) saw the construction of the perimeter walls and several rooms in limestone _opus incertum_ with some lava inserts. The house was divided into a reception area with _atrium_ (A) and _tablinium_ (H+M) and the private, residential zone comprising the western rooms (O and I+L) and southern rooms (G+E+F and N). At present, it is not known whether there was an upper floor. The phase III interventions (end of the 2nd century B.C.), mainly using lava stone, saw the beginning of a contraction in the surface area of the building. In phase IV (1st century B.C.) structures were raised or altered using different materials and techniques, changing internal routes, modifying the functions of some rooms and creating wall and floor decorations in the II Style. The earlier _tablinium_ (H+M) was divided to create a new _tablinium_ /corridor, the _apotheca_ M and porticoed _ambulacrum_ L (opening onto the _viridarium_ I and _triclinium_ N). The southern part of the large room G+E+F was divided to form an anti-camera (G) and kitchen (E+F).
