Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF ZLATAR (Stela Doncheva – donchevastela@yahoo.com) Metallurgical Complex No. 4 was thoroughly explored. Two clay kilns were documented in Workshop No. 1 and a stone kiln with two pits and a row of postholes were discovered in Workshop No. 2. The extension of Workshop No. 2 was documented in the layer of the 10th century and an extension of the postholes was discovered. Workshop No. 3, 4.20 m by 4.80 m in size, was discovered. A domed kiln, 0.65 m by 1.10 m in size, and a hearth with a pit, containing a bone awl, bronze melts and charcoal, were discovered in the workshop. A second clay kiln, 50 cm in diameter, was discovered there and a terracotta melting pot was found on it. A trench, containing metal objects, melts and sherds, was explored close to the kiln. Workshop No. 4 with two occupation periods was discovered close to Workshop No. 3. During the first period, the workshop accommodated a clay kiln, 50 cm in diameter, and a hearth close to it. During the second period, a stone kiln, 50 cm by 60 cm in size, was constructed. Workshop No. 5 was documented and a hearth was explored there. During the excavations, 105 items were found, mostly belt appliqués and buckles, and also iron and bone tools and two terracotta melting pots.
