Summary (English)
REDAKA 2 CAVE (Aleta Guadelli – aleta.guadelli@gmail.com, Jean-Luc Guadelli, Nikolai Sirakov, Ivailo Krumov) The explorations in the entry gallery of the cave continued. According to the osteological analysis, Vulpes vulpes prevailed (over 64 %) among the bones from the predators. Bovinae and Artiodactyla were well represented among the herbivorous. An assemblage of flint plates and points was discovered in facies 4, related most probably to the Upper Paleolithic tradition documented in Stratum 4, which dated to the early phases of the Kozarnika Culture of the beginning of the Upper Paleolithic period. A fragment from a bone awl, which was found during the explorations, dated to the same period. The existence of three layers of flint artifacts, at c. 120 cm, c. 125–130 cm and c. 145–150 cm in depth, respectively, indicated three probable periods of human visits in the cave during the Upper Paleolithic period. The data from the flint assemblages showed that the series originating from Stratum 4 belonged to traditions, which were very close or identical to the Kozarnika Culture.
