Summary (English)

  • PLISKA (Stanislav Ivanov – stanislavivanovarh@gmail.com) The explorations of buildings consisting of parallel rooms arranged in lines of the first half of the 11th century continued in the Palatial Center. The northwestern corner of Building No. 2 consisting of parallel rooms arranged in a line was explored. A yard was discovered with an oven constructed on stones and fragmentary bricks. Building No. 3 consisting of parallel rooms arranged in a line, located to the north of the Palatial Church, was thoroughly explored. Parts of its walls were built over earlier pavements of bricks and stones, probably related to the Palatial Church. Three sunken-floored houses and eight storage pits of the 10th century were explored. A stove, constructed of stones and bricks bonded with clay, was explored in the northwestern part of House No. 7. A stove constructed of stones was explored in the southeastern part of House No. 9. Nine Christian burials located to the north of the Palatial Church were explored in the cemetery of the end of the 9th – first half of the 11th centuries. The deceased in Grave No. 42 was buried in seating position. Trenches from timber fences and postholes from timber buildings of the Capital Period of Pliska were explored.
