Summary (English)

  • APOLLONIA (Krastina Panaiotova – kpanayotova@abv.bg, Margarit Damyanov, Teodora Bogdanova) In the Eastern Sector, three Late Antique graves were explored, one of them containing reburial of the remains of two individuals. A wall of ashlars of the Classical period was discovered in Trench S8. The finds included architectural fragments, sherds, including with graffiti that read: IH, three bronze arrow-coins, a bronze arrowhead. In the Central Sector, bronze coins of Apollonia of 350 – 300 BC, a sherd of a black-gloss cup with a graffito that reads: [Α]ΝΕΘ_, and architectural fragments were found in Trench K16. Other finds from the sector included sherds from amphorae from Miletos, Chios and Lesbos of the 6th – 5th centuries BC, South Ionian kylikes and a North Ionian krater of the first decades of the 6th century BC, Attic cups of the end of the 6th – first decades of the 5th centuries BC. The exploration of the dug out structure continued, containing fragments from bricks and burned clay plaster, charcoal from black pine, slag, animal bones, sherds from amphorae from production centers in Ionia and Aeolis, a North Ionian krater of 580 – 570 BC, East Greek and Attic vessels of the late 6th – beginning of the 5th centuries BC, black-gloss Attic skyphoi of 475 – 450 BC.
