APOLLONIA (Krastina Panaiotova – kpanayotova@abv.bg, Margarit Damyanov, Teodora Bogdanova) In the Eastern Sector, the exploration of Pit No. 27 continued. It contained animal bones, sherds from red-gloss cups of AD 100 – 150, single sherds from the Hellenistic and the Archaic periods, a bronze coin of Apollonia of the 3rd – 2nd century BC and a Roman colonial bronze coin of Dionysopolis of the first half of the 3rd century AD. Sherds from Archaic and black-gloss vessels (some of them with votive graffiti that read: IH and …KEN) and from Late Roman pottery were found in Trenches R8 and R9. Two Christian burials were explored. Grave No. 91 was paved with bricks and two bodies were laid close to each other. A child was buried in Grave No. 92 and a small ceramic cup of the end of the 4th century AD was found there. In the Central Sector, Late Antique Grave No. 93 was documented in Trench J15. Bricks, roof-tiles, sherds from amphorae, fragments from marble and terracotta architectural elements, and a silver diobol of Apollonia of the 4th century BC were found in Trench J16. The explorations of the dug out structure continued in Trenches К13, L13 and L14. Fragmentary sun-dried bricks, fragments from roof-tiles, sherds from amphorae and East Greek pottery and a sherd with a graffito that reads: H, were found. Three ovens were documented in the structure. It dated to the first half of the 6th – first decades of the 5th centuries BC.
