Summary (English)
ARCHAEOLOGICAL EXPLORATIONS NEAR THE VILLAGE OF BANYA (Bogdan Athanassov – bo.atana@nbu.bg, Iliya Kulov) The site was documented in 2009. In 2012, clandestine excavations were noticed and rescue archaeological explorations were carried out. Geomagnetic and geoelectric explorations were carried out on the site and they showed that the stratum was probably over 1 m thick and there were structures beneath the surface of the terrain. A hearth was discovered in Trench I58. A wall of dry uneven stones was discovered in Trench I59, preserved in three – four courses up to 30 – 40 cm in height. The foundation of another earlier wall of stones was documented. Fragmentary burned wattle-and-daub and Thracian sherds of the beginning of the Early Iron Age (1100 – 900 BC) were found.
