Summary (English)
PHILIPPOPOLIS (Sophia Hristeva – sophiahristeva@gmail.com) The site was situated at the southwestern foot of Teximtepe Hill. The explorations of the Christian cemetery of the 14th – 18th centuries continued. Grave KN 831 was discovered. The body was laid in a wooden coffin and skeletal remains from an earlier burial were reburied in the grave. Brocade was documented on the skull. Earlier Grave KN 827 was discovered beneath; it was partly explored in 2014. Six more graves were explored. The bodies were laid in wooden coffins. A child, 7 – 10 years old, was buried in Grave KN 534. The grave goods included 10 large and two small silver buttons of the 15th – 16th century. A man was buried in Grave KN 357 and a silver finger-ring of the 16th century was found. Graves discovered in 2014 were thoroughly excavated and a bronze finger-ring was found.
