Summary (English)
In the period from 14.06.-12.07.2016. systematic archaeological research at the Carine site in Risan was realized.
It was to discover the buildings and streets of the lower town in the section Carine VIII / 2 and connect with the architecture discovered last year. In the area of about 100 m², the site consists of objects I (dimensions 14.70 × 27.80 m), II (dimensions 21.80 × 20.50 m) and III (dimensions 36 × 17.80 m) from the Hellenistic period with the streets orientation north-south (27.30 × 5.90 m) and east-west (44 × 8.90 m), with the sidewalk accompanying the object II, as well as the rest of the pavement with a staircase at the eastern corner of the building I. Objects II and III comprise two multi-phase palaces, whose chronological determination will be determined after the processing of small archaeological findings. Building II is a part of object II discovered in the previous campaign and its total length is 42.80 m.
Also was found the remains of the Roman wall in the Object I ,north-south orientation (dimension 7.80 × 3.80 m) and the channel, which is curved in the northwest-southeast (dimension 30 × 6.60 m). From the Roman period, the east-west street (dimension 22 × 4.50 m) was established, a step at the eastern corner of the building I (which makes the stone in that secondary function and was an integral part of the face of wall No. 1 of the building II), remains a rebuilt entrance to object II at the north-eastern profile, as well as a mortar with a layer of bricked brick.
