Season

    • During 2003 inspections continued on the large building site in the area where the cemetery of Bolzano once stood. After having uncovered a part of the cemetery's structures and other 17th to 19th century walls belonging to the city's lazaretto, two middens dating to between the 17th to 19th centuries were found. One was situated at the southern edge of the site, to the side of Piazza Verdi, whilst the other was at the northern edge. Several hundred fragments of pottery were recovered, representing a great variety of forms. On the eastern side of the building a fragment of re-deposited Roman brick was found. (Catrin Marzoli)
