ANCHIALOS (Ivo Cholakov – ivocholakov@gmail.com) The strata were 2.40 m thick. Part of the fortification wall of the Late Antique town was discovered. It was oriented north – south and was built of ashlars bonded with mortar with a core of roughly-cut stones. The fortification wall cut an earlier wall in rubble masonry, belonging to a building with traces from fire. Judging from the finds and the coins, the fire occurred in AD 475 – 500. The latest coin discovered in the burned building was minted by Zeno and it is a _terminus post quem_ for the construction of the fortification wall. During the Middle Ages the wall was used as a quarry for building material and it was destroyed before AD 1100 – 1125. The finds from the excavations included sherds, including from Late Antique and Mediaeval amphorae, 11 coins, fragments from architectural details and decoration, fragments from glass vessels and a terracotta lamp.
