      • PHILIPPOPOLIS (Desislava Davidova – RAM.Plovdiv@gmail.com, Zdravka Korkutova) The site was situated in the fortified area of Philippopolis. A wall was discovered, 2.30 m in height and 1.10 m wide. It had two construction periods: Roman and Late Antique. A foundation built of stones bonded with mortar belonged to the first period of the 2nd – 3rd centuries AD. The wall above the foundation was built of roughly-cut stones bonded with mortar and belonged to the second period of the 4th – 6th centuries AD when it was part of a warehouse. Two kerbstones and a few ashlars were reused during the construction of the building. Two floor levels were documented. The earlier one was plastered with mortar and dated to the 4th – 5th centuries AD; the later was a clay plaster with charcoal of the 5th – 6th centuries AD. Remains from an oven built of bricks bonded with mortar were documented. In the 6th century AD it was transformed into a hearth. Debris of a cardo of the 2nd – 3rd centuries AD was documented. A kerbstone, 2.57 m by 0.30 m by 0.55 m in size, and a few ashlars were discovered. A room of the 5th – 6th centuries AD was documented. Its floor was plastered with clay mixed with charcoal. The finds included sherds of the 2nd – 6th centuries AD.
