Al fine di definire la planimetria dell’abitazione IX, 7, 21, già oggetto di un’indagine nella campagna di scavo del 2004, nel mese di ottobre del 2007 sono stati effettuati tre saggi all'interno della _domus_; due saggi sono stati collocati sul marciapiede e nella bottega su esso prospiciente. Essi hanno consentito di recuperare il primo impianto planimetrico dell'abitazione, databile al III sec. a.C. In questa fase la casa aveva un accesso principale sulla _viu mefiu_, con delle strette _fauces_ ai cui lati si disponevano due ambienti di eguale dimensione. Sia le _fauces_ sia l'ambiente occidentale sono stati cancellati ed inglobati, presumibilmente nella fase edilizia di fine I sec. a.C., con l'impianto della bottega al civico IX, 7, 22.
Un terzo saggio è stato effettuato nel giardino della casa, dove erano evidenti alcune trasformazioni dell'impianto della casa, come un varco tamponato che metteva in collegamento quest’abitazione con alcuni ambiente attualmente inglobati nella casa IX, 7, 20.
Il saggio ha consentito di ricostruire l'intera sequenza cronologica di questo settore della casa, non sempre utilizzato come giardino. Infatti almeno al III sec. a.C. risalgono alcune strutture murarie che delimitano un ambiente che si sviluppa oltre l'attuale limite orientale del giardino – al di sotto del muro di separazione con l’attuale casa IX, 7, 20 – e di cui non è stato possibile recuperare la planimetria. Tali strutture vengono intenzionalmente obliterate almeno nel II sec. a.C.; a questo periodo corrisponde un innalzamento del piano di frequentazione e forse l'impianto dell'attuale muro di delimitazione orientale dell'ambiente.
Future campagne di scavo saranno mirate alla comprensione della planimetria di questo settore della casa nella fase di III sec. a.C. ed il rapporto con gli altri ambienti sino ad ora identificati, in particolar modo con l’attuale atrio della casa e gli ambienti ad esso retrostanti.

In October 2007 three trenches were opened in _domus_ IX, 7, 21, already excavated in 2004, with the aim of defining its plan. Two trenches were dug on the sidewalk and one in the shop facing onto it. They revealed the first layout of the _domus_, datable to the 3rd century B.C. In this phase the house had its main entrance on the _viu mefiu_, with narrow fauces on either side of which were two rooms of equal dimensions. Both the _fauces_ and the western room were obliterated and incorporated into the shop at number IX, 7, 22, probably during the building phase of the end of the 1st century B.C.
A third trench was dug in the garden of the _domus_, revealing clear evidence of some transformations to its layout, such as the blocking of an opening which previously linked this house with some rooms which are now part of house IX, 7, 20.
The trench led to the reconstruction of the entire chronological sequence of this part of the house, that had not always been a garden. In fact, there were several walls dating to at least the 3rd century B.C., delimiting a room which developed beyond the present eastern limit of the garden – below the wall dividing it from house IX, 7, 20 – whose plan could not be retrieved. These structures were deliberately obliterated in at least the 2nd century B.C.; the floor level was raised in this period and perhaps the eastern wall delimiting the space was also constructed.
Future excavations will aim to complete the 3rd century B.C. plan of this part of the house and define its relationship with the other rooms identified to date, in particular the present _atrium_ and the rooms behind it.
