Summary

  • "At the end of the 1970s a prehistoric settlement was discovered in the province of Badajoz (Spain) following changes in agricultural methods at the country estate of La Piotilla. The remains which came to light were abundant and outstanding enough to draw the attention of archaeologists.... The first phase of fieldwork was carried out from 1979 to 1982, and consisted of small excavations and stratigraphic cores aimed at understanding the scope of this complex settlement. This medthodological approach proved inadequate, however, so in the second phase of work the methodology was updated to include the new survey techniques." (Hurtado 2000 p121
