Summary
- "The full program of the Diyala Basin Archaeological Project embraced both textual investigations of a wide spectrum of problems concerning ancient Mesopotamian agricultural history and archaeological field investigations of the remains of early settlement and irrigation in a particular area. These findings, based primarily on archaeological field reconnaissance conducted 1957-58, seek to identify in that area some of the converging natural and human forces which shaped its successive phases of advance and decline over a total period of perhaps six milleniums."
