The MAS investigates population, economic, and environmental change to the North-west of Zaragoza in the North East of Spain. It is an interdisiplinary project which combines landscape archaeology with earth-science methodologies and approaches.
When did major changes to the landscape occur during the Holocene and what was their magnitude? Is it possible to determine whether these landscape changes result from human action or climate change, or both? What evidence is there for human organization of the landscape at different times? Why were particular organizational schemes employed? How did landscape 'management' alter with time? Did it influence, or was it influenced by visible processes of sedimentation and erosion?
