Summary (English)

  • Foppe di Nadro: rocks n. 44 and 60

Situated at the northern edge of a large agricultural plateau, crossed by a small torrent.
    FdN – Rock 44 (Bs. Ceto.Foppedinadro.044)
Erratic mass, irregular parallelepiped. The are preserved on the summit area slightly sloped to the north and are in a mediocre state of preservation. Two scenes of ploughing can be identified, comparable to the type seen on the statue-stelae (Copper Age), associated with small topographical elements; in the Iron Age a foot print was added to the composition. The documentation of the incisions made in 2002 was checked and corrected. At the base of the rock, there was a depression with a containing wall preserved in the terrain, which in a more recent period was used to collect spring water.

    FdN – Rock 60 (Bs. Ceto. Foppedinadro.060)
Sector A, the examination and recording begun in 2013 was completed. During cleaning back of weeds, an arrowhead made of Monti Lessini flint was found in secondary deposition. The shape was compatible with Chalcolithic examples. Microscope analysis showed traces of a bonding material (pitch?) on the arrowhead. New etchings were uncovered represented by schematic praying figures, a dagger, several armed men dating to the Iron Age and other marks. Of particular importance a filiform etching of a spear with something tied half way up its shaft.
Sector B, immediately north of sector A, preserves isolated representations of daggers comparable with Bronze Age material; topographical elements; a spear head of uncertain date; rare roughly-made anthropomorphic figures dating to various phases of the Iron Age; pseudo-geometric figures and indeterminate figures.

Sector D, investigations began here in 2013 and it was called “sector B” at the time. The examination was completed to the east as far as sector C. Topographical elements, schematic praying figures and a horseman, dating to the Iron Age, were present in isolated bands.
In addition to traditional photography and tracing, the rocks were documented using a photo-mosaic, total station (with markers recorded directly on the survey sheets), and SfM (only for sector A of rock 60 and rock 44).
