Statement of Ethics

Fasti Online Documents & Research (FOLD&R) is committed to the publication of archaeological research and excavation in Italy. The following points are intended to give a broad overview of our policies. For any clarification, see the website of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) (https://publicationethics.org/). FOLD&R believes strongly in maintaining an accurate record of Italian archaeology and follows COPE’s Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing.

Plagiarism

FOLD&R is committed to the fight against copyright infringement and plagiarism.. We seek to protect the rights of our authors and we always investigate claims of plagiarism or misuse of published articles, conscience of the reputation of the journal. Submitted articles may be checked with duplication-checking software. Where we find that a submission has plagiarized other work or included third-party copyright material without permission or with insufficient acknowledgement, or where the authorship of the article is contested, we reserve the right to take action. This might include: publishing a correction; retracting the article; taking up the matter with the administration of the author's institution and/or or taking appropriate legal action.

Conflicts of Interest

We expect the authors to acknowledge by email that they have no conflicts of interest in the publication of their articles. We will not, however, publish these statements.

Contents and Peer Review

As with all archaeological publication we need assurance that the authors are authorized to publish the results of an excavation. Once that is ascertained, we will submit the article to peer – review, making sure that the reviewer has no conflict of interest as regards the article or its authors. We use a double-blind peer review model, with the identities of both the peer reviewers and the authors are kept hidden. The peer- reviewers are not limited to the scientific committee, but are sought from international specialists in the specific material treated by the excavation. They are requested to assess that the submission is correctly presented, the illustrations appropriate and the conclusions sound.

Prior publication

If material has been previously published, it is not generally acceptable for publication in FOLD&R. However, we do not object to contents of a FOLD&R article being republished by its author(s).
